Since Rihanna dropped her 40-shade foundation range from the Fenty Beauty line, it sparked many conversations online–most were positive. True to its goal of being inclusive, women of color and even albinos fell in love with the range, stating how it still felt like their actual skin but only better. Although Rihanna’s foundations prove to be a success, she is not the first to do this. Many other brands have been inclusive too, offering a diverse range of foundations for years.
To serve you with even more foundation options, here are five other brands you should check out!
1. MAC Cosmetics
MAC Cosmetics has been embracing inclusivity for as long as we know it. “ALL ages, ALL races, ALL sexes”, their website states. Offering two shades more than Fenty Beauty, their Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 line delivers a matte finish with medium to full coverage. On top of that, the makeup giant even has incredibly diverse campaigns, as they featured stars like Rihanna herself, Nicki Minaj and Taraji Henson.
Fronted by actress Lupita Nyong’o, it comes as no surprise that this brand offers such a wide foundation range too. But more than its Teint Idole Ultra Long Wear Foundation, what caught our attention is their customizable foundation called Le Teint Particulier. Over at Nordstrom, a beauty advisor will scan your skin tone and will personally blend a tailor-fit shade for you. The best part? The formula is protected against oxidation (the process where your foundation naturally turns orange).
3. Make Up For Ever
Over on Instagram, Make Up For Ever recently reminded every beauty junkie that they were inclusive too, saying “40 shades is nothing new to us 👄”. True enough, their Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation line offers 40 shades. It has a lightweight formula that delivers a camera-ready finish, which is what it’s popularly known for.
4. Bobbi Brown
Here’s a fun fact: Bobbi Brown was launched back in 1991 because of the limited foundation options. Today, the beauty label’s Skin Foundation SPF 15 offers 30 shades, which comes in a water-based, oil-free formula that won’t feel too heavy on the skin. If you’re up for a fresh, hydrated glow, you better reach for this.
5. Estee Lauder
Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup boasts 38 shades. The best part? This range has been highly-raved for its long-wearing formula. Watch Ylona Garcia and Vanessa Matsunaga try it out here.
