Exhibiting Demna Gvasalia’s fondness for exaggerated silhouettes and aggressive branding, Balenciaga’s latest Spring 2018 collection plays on elevated basics, just how the designer manages to spin the classics into high fashion pieces. The range is called “SINNERS”, an exclusive 24-piece line built around a graphic motif that is expressed through logomania, similar to how Gvasalia is creating his pieces for Vetements this season.
SINNERS serves as a tie-in between Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2017 and Spring/Summer 2018 collections. It’s comprised of reinvented classic street essentials from graphic tees, sweaters, jackets, trousers to accessories emblazoned with “SINNERS” in a bold red font.
What stood out were the outerwear pieces that stay true to the label’s aesthetic–think a leather jacket inscribed with the words “Balenciaga” on one sleeve, a black, structured trench coat with oversized shoulders, and even athleisure jackets with a high neckline.
The Balenciaga “SINNERS” Spring/Summer 2018 capsule collection is now available in stores and on the fashion house’s online store.
