Chanel’s Latest Cruise 2018 Show Is Basically A Trip To Greece

After many resort seasons abroad–from Dubai’s palm tree paradise in 2013 to the colorful streets of Havana last year, globe-trotting designer Karl Lagerfeld staged Chanel‘s Cruise 2018 show back to his home-base, Paris. The brand is known for taking their epic resort shows to a far-flung location, but this year, Lagerfeld brought Ancient Greece to Paris.

The Grand Palais–Chanel’s usual ready-to-wear show location–was transformed into a Grecian-inspired scenery (think towering pillars, ruins, and marbled walls). Likewise, the collection Modernity of Antiquity featured drapings, one-shoulder silhouettes, gold embellishments, and headbands, which all embodied a modern-day goddess. But for the real star of the show? Gladiators made a chic comeback. Reworked having bright, colorful straps wrapped around the legs, it’s impossible not to turn heads as you stride in these heels. We’re calling it: it will be the shoe of the season.
