Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has recently been getting a lot of criticism for her nude scenes on the show. In an interview with Elle, the outspoken actress, has responded to this issue, talking about how “anti-feminist” the backlash she receives can be.
“I get a lot of crap for having done nude scenes and sex scenes. That, in itself, is so anti-feminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem,” Clarke shares.
Clarke plays the fierce Daenerys on the show, who can just be as dominant on the bedroom as she is when she is conquering multiple kingdoms. She cites a sex scene from season four wherein her character commanded lieutenant Daario to strip for her.
“Take of your clothes,” Clarke says, quoting her memorable line, and adds, “It’s brilliant. I actually went up to [GOT creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and thanked them. I was like, ‘That’s a scene I’ve been waiting for!'”
The popular series definitely puts a spotlight on strong, one-of-a-kind female characters. Hopefully, Clarke’s statement can bring others into a more understanding place.
