Last week, Nicki Minaj has been teasing us with Harajuku-inspired outfits on Instagram and fans have been buzzing in wonderment on where all the chic garbs are from. One of her OOTDs, for instance, left us curious as its caption states, “Kimono by #IssaSecret (you can own it soon).” It turns out, the kimonos were actually from her H&M capsule that she designed herself in collaboration with the retail giant’s design team.
Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic that Minaj loves, the collection includes 12 designs featuring seasonless pieces that can take you from day to night. It’s also incredibly versatile, which stays true to the spirit of the singer’s style. There are athleisure influences with oversized hoodies and graphic tees, flirty accessories and separates in leather and lace, and party-ready dresses that are perfect for any occasion. The star of the show has got to be the long black kimono and it’s guaranteed to be a sellout.
A collab with Minaj and H&M has been the talk of the town since she wore a custom gown by the brand during the 2017 Met Gala and it was only a matter of time before she released a curated range of affordable, party-ready creations. Aside from this collaboration, Minaj is also part of H&M holiday campaign co-starring Jesse Williams and directed by Johan Renck.
The Nicki Minaj x H&M collection is available now in stores and online with prices ranging from $8 (P400) to $70 (P3,500).
