This September, Hong Kong isn’t only a place to shop, to eat, or to relive your childhood via Disneyland. There’s something more for the fashion enthusiast: Asia’s signature fashion event, CENTRESTAGE, is on its second run and it will be held from September 6 to 9. Expect runway shows featuring more than 210 fashion brands from around the globe (the public may obtain free tickets to the shows).
Apart from that, Hong Kong’s Trade Development Council just organized a month-long citywide campaign called “Hong Kong in Fashion” from August 15 to September 30, where it’s filled with workshops, galleries and fashion parades, to name a few.
1. Fashion Avenue Fest And Street Parade
Indulge in a weekend carnival, set at the Lee Tung Avenue (the new Wan Chai landmark), for style and manicure workshops that will make your trip a lot more worth it. After all, it doesn’t happen everyday when you can learn in a foreign place. Alongside the workshops, you can feast your eyes on the designs of up-and-coming local brands and fashion design students at the Centrestage Fashion Street Parade.
2. Centrestage Playground
Meet the playground for the artsy souls. From September 4 to 9, the Kai Chiu Road entrance of Hysan Place will be transformed into a gallery-like venue, featuring the finest photographs of selected homegrown Hong Kong brands.
3. Street Snap Competition
Can’t get enough of taking your OOTDs? Hit two birds with one stone by documenting your travel style, while getting a chance to win prizes worth more than HK$100,000 (think an Ipad, dinner buffet, and Vivienne Westwood scarves). From now until September 30, the Street Snap Competition is open to the public. The only thing you have to do? Upload a snap of chic wear and use the hashtag #CENTRESTAGEHK on Instagram. Entries with the most likes will win.
4. Hong Kong in Fashion Fiesta
Whether you’re alone or you’re with a group, wind down in a Fashion Night Out cocktail party. It’s happening on September 1, and it will be held at The Garage at the ground floor of D2 Place TWO in Lai Chi Kok. On the same night, there will also be a fashion show of 40 designs made by local students in Hong Kong.
5. The Big Fashion Show
More than 210 fashion brands from around the world will collide in one big fashion event–the Centrestage. It has been an international promotion and launch platform designed specifically for Asian fashion brands and designers. Whether you’re an aspiring designer or just another fashion enthusiast like us, immersing yourself in another country’s fashion will always leave you feeling inspired.
