Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan attended the Cannes 2017 Film Festival in two ball gowns created by none other than Filipino designers.
For her first look, the Bollywood maven stepped out in a sophisticated creation by Mark Bumgarner. Crafted in Mikado silk, this dreamy frock features Mark’s signature ball gown, and a delicate floral embroidery. “I have always liked creating ball gowns and for this dress–the Fleur–I was inspired by the material. It is made of laminated French lace and colorful embroidery. It took around 200 hours to create it”, he shares with MEGAstyle. With a gown like this, who wouldn’t want to take the twirling boomerang shot?

As she made a stylish entry at the red carpet, the actress sported another Filipino creation by Michael Cinco. It features the Dubai-based designer’s classic voluminous ball gown in an icy blue hue that’s hard to miss on the red carpet. This was from Michael Cinco’s Impalpable Dream of Versailles collection, and if it looks quite familiar, local celebs like Toni Gonzaga and Marian Rivera have also worn a slightly similar blue ball gown, except this one’s extra-voluminous.

“To be able to create a dress from the Philippines and to be worn by an international celebrity on a world stage means the Filipino craftmanship is ready to take on the global scene” shares Mark Bumgarner. Breakthroughs in the local fashion industry like this couldn’t get any more delightful.
