Lea Salonga started her broadway career at the age of seven when she landed a spot in the musical The King and I. This opportunity opened many doors for her professional life as she started making her presence felt and made a name for herself. She then became the lead star of Annie, before joining other productions. At such a young age she received numerous nominations and winnings in the Aliw as the Best Child Performer. Later on, Lea Salonga was selected to play the role of Kim in the highly-acclaimed musical Miss Saigon in 1989. In the same production, Lea won the Olivier for Best Performance by an Actress in a musical. Alongside her first recognitions were the awards from the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World for the role of Kim after the musical transitioned over to Broadway.
Now, Lea Salonga is back in the Philippines as a resident coach in the second season of The Voice of the Philippines as she forge ahead with her search for the next big thing! Her immense knowledge in music, the art of performing, and the science of the music industry proves her place as a coach to beat in the show. Being the winning coach in the first season of The Voice of the Philippines, Lea continues on to hone the skills of her members as she equip them to play with the big dogs of the season.
