If there’s anything we can learn from Mariel de Leon (aside from how to achieve flawless makeup looks), it would probably be perseverance. What many forget about the beauty queen is that she first joined Bb. Pilipinas back in 2013 when she was only 19. While she only made it to the top 15, she was considered as one of the crowd favorites. Fast forward to her second try and her eventual victory. Winning Miss Philippines International 2017 was definitely in the stars for Mariel, who seems to be the perfect fit to the title. Aside from seeing the fresh-faced beauty all over social media, she shows us that she isn’t afraid to speak out as well–most recently criticizing the appointment of Mocha Uson as assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). Mariel credits her family–specifically the acting career of her parents–as a factor that helped shape her and her love for the arts. In an interview with Rappler, she shares, “Movies and music helped shaped how I think and who I am today. Besides those factors, my dad being a hippie and my mom being artistic added to that too. Everyone in my family is into arts, actually, but each have their own specialty.” Now that it’s her time to shine in the spotlight, we can’t help but wait to see what else the future has in store for her.
With her self-love and strong advocacy, this woman is a queen in her own right. #WhoIsShe #MEGAstyleXWomenToWatch #MEGAsWomenToWatch A post shared by MEGAstyle.ph (@megastyleph) on
