Last night Mega Magazine kicked off its 20th Anniversary celebrations, as well the Young Designers Competition finale, in a grand ball held at the NBC Tent in The Fort.

The evening started out with a sumptuous array of hors d'oeurves provided by the wonderful people at Cibo di M and a lovely selection of wine and bubbly served exclusively by Voga Italia. Before we knew it guests were coming in by the droves, and the party was well underway.

But the festivities were only just beginning. Hand in hand with MEGA’s 20th Anniversary was the grand finale of the MEGA Young Designers Competition. The six remaining designers, namely Renan, Oz, Mara, Robin, Kerby, and Ched showed their final collections in a riveting runway showdown that had the crowd cheering.

Supermodel Sarah Meier hosted the evening's program, where top designers Veejay Floresca and last year’s winner Russel Villafuerte also presented their own runway collections, with Veejay’s signature sensuality and Russel’s witty designs taking center stage.

Finally, the moment had come. One by one, the winners of MEGA’s Young Designers Competition 2012 were announced.

Mara garnered 2nd place, and was also voted the best in show

But it was Renan, who according to the judges showed the most growth throughout the competition, who snagged top gold with his dark and edgy runway show.

Overall, the event was a smashing success. Guests left with fabulous goodie bags from Dove and Villa del Conte, while inside others capped the night off with a last glass of wine or two.
