Jonny Johansson has always brought a certain kind of coolness to the runway with Acne Studios. His aesthetically-pleasing take on clothes transports us back to the pinnacle of vintage dressing, spun with an air of Scandinavian sleekness. This season was like a transit to a Wes Anderson world with a strict color palette and an array of textures that would turn heads with its next level interpretation of chromatic-based minimalism.
High-shine was the hero for the Swedish fashion house, along with pleats, mesh, and silky numbers. The 70s were revamped with disco glam-inspired tinsel, and fringed hemlines. Even the atmosphere of the show embodied the essence of the fashion house’s eccentricity as a milky plastic curtain covered the runway, and was raised to the ceiling before the affair commenced.
What stood out with Johansson’s collection was its assimilation of fanciful ornamentation and hues into everyday wear. Basic pieces such as button downs and slip dresses were made in patent leather and were embellished with sequins and glitter.
“I am always interested in what sits outside of fashion. This season I wanted to explore this outsider way of being,” he shares with Vogue.
