Three beauty queens–Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach
, Miss World 2013 Megan Young
, and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa
–recently flew to the Big Apple for the upcoming Philippine Independence day parade. And just as expected, they didn’t fail to bring their sartorial A-game. Days before the parade, the queens
roamed around the city in creations by Filipino designer
Showcasing the designer’s high-shine aesthetic, their first look were shimmery, cocktail dresses from the Bespoke Cherry Veric line, which were all debuted at the Western Canada Fashion Week last April.
Proving that an eye-catching look doesn’t always come in gowns, these ladies also rocked a modern-day Piña suits
by Cherry, which highlights the strengths of Global Filipinos–fashion-forward yet still rooted in tradition. “These are power suits for the future-oriented Filipino who wields beauty and confidence on the streets of world capitals like New York”, he shares on his Instagram post. The fusion of traditional fabric used for Barongs
and the pantsuit silhouette gave the classic power suit
that much-needed upgrade.
Although this isn’t the first time when he dressed up these beauty queens, he’s responsible for Kylie’s Tokyo style-approved gown for Miss International, and Pia’s body-hugging frock for Miss Universe.
