Guests were given Canadian flag pins as they entered SMDC’s grand show room during the CPFW Press ConferenceCanada Philippine Fashion Week as it turns out it transcends fashion. Aside from presenting shows like the Project Terno (where Canada’s top designers are challenged to make their version of the terno) and the Pistahan de Couture (a curated fashion show that pays homage to the diverse festivals of the Philippines), there will be an exhibit on Jose Rizal entitled “A Fashionable Evening with Jose Rizal”. Other exhibits will showcase Mangyan Tribes,T’boli and Ibong Adarna paintings and the Ramp Diva exhibit. So essentially, it is a showcase of Filipino pride. And for the highlight of the week, Top Filipino desginers John Ablaza, Francis Libiran, Leonard Co, Noel Crisostomo, Norman Noriega, Roland Alzate and Filipino-Canadian Brian Maristela are set to conquer the Canadian runways with their collections. It will be a fully realized Filipino take over in Canada come June 2013. What makes this even more special is that this fashion event supports the Kol Hope Foundation, a charitable endeavor of Melinda Rustia and Jeff Rustia (the co-founder and father of Kol).
