Stressed? Director David Lynch Just Released A Meditative Jewellery Line

For all the fashionable film buffs out there, you may know David Lynch as one of the most iconic surrealist directors and screenwriters. He’s the man responsible for bringing you neon-noir thriller classics such as Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, and Twin Peaks, which was recently turned into a TV series.

While Lynch is famously known for his mystery-filled motion pictures, most people don’t know that he actually dabbles in fashion too. Back in 2014, the director released a line of sportswear for women. A lot of his fans were puzzled by the venture but here’s a little-known fact: every fashion collection he puts out is for a good cause. This year, Lynch has collaborated with Alex & Ani for a jewellery line inspired by the Transcendental Meditation technique.

The range is called “Meditating Eye” and features evil eye designs on bracelets, necklaces, and cuffs with the eye open on one side and closed on the other. “The Meditating Eye collection was created as a symbol, encouraging every human being to access that ocean of pure consciousness within,” shares Lynch on Dazed Digital. The pieces include an Eye Colour Infusion expandable necklace, a matching charm bangle, and a sleek men’s cuff.

Lynch has been practicing Transcendental Meditation for over 40 years and credits it for helping his creative process that was once “filled with worries and anxieties”. It’s only fitting that he’s coming out with a meditation-inspired line for the 10th anniversary of his foundation.

The Meditate Eye collection is now available online at alexandani.com, retailing for $42 (P2,100) to $88 (P4,400) with 20% of the proceeds going to the David Lynch Foundation.
