The most loyal fashion item you can ever have in your closet is a pair of high heels. It sounds a bit awkward doesn’t it?
I said loyal because, 1. No matter how much you overeat, your high heels will never abandon you. You can still wear them, even after you’ve put on a few pounds; 2. They lengthen your legs for days!; 3. They make your bum look rounder; 4. You can look dressy (even le smoking!
) with torn jeans and an oversized shirt; and 5. THEY REALLY NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE (of course, this is my personal sentiment on shoes).
Anyway, this story is about the ultra-sexy ankle cuff heels that seem to have penetrated the closets of celebrities, editors, fashionphiles, and trendsetters (my favorites are The Haute Pursuit wearing Alexander Wang and Song of Style wearing YSL).

I first noticed the trend when Net-A-Porter
featured Esteban Cortazar’s metal ankle cuff leather sandals. But I didn’t pay much attention until MEGA’s Executive Editor Peewee Isidro showed me YSL
’s black and white ankle cuff sandals. I’ve been obsessing over it since. All the more now when I passed by Gucci and saw their smoldering hot version! Other labels to check are B by Brian Atwood
, Pierre Hardy
and Tom Ford
. For the inexpensive version, head over to Zara or Stradivarius!

Here’s how to wear it
: The bigger the cuff, the better! If you’re petite (like me), wear your ankle cuff pair with short shorts and an oversized tee or button-down. But, if you have long legs you can wear it with pretty much anything!
