The Only Makeup Trend At NYFW You Should Know About

Beauty-wise, it seems like these past few runways have been fully embracing the idea of imperfectness, shattering the idea of perfected red lips and precisely placed blushes (think ultra-flushed cheeks). And for the latest trend? We’re now welcoming “rounded winged liners” to our routine because let’s face it–it’s not easy to perfect a cat-eye on rushed mornings.

At Tom Ford’s S/S 2018 show, the models paraded down the runway with bubbly cat-eyes featuring rounded wings. And to further add oomph to the eyes, the liner was accentuated with black glitter that was sticked on the peepers using an “eye gloss”. Makeup artist Pat McGrath likes to call it as “slightly dangerous, but very expensive.” Clearly, this cat-eye is far from looking boring.

Jason Wu further cemented the trend, as his models sported the same rounded winged liner, sans the glitter. The eye makeup got a lot more low-maintenance as it’s meant to look smudged, as opposed to crisp and clean. In fact, liquid liners were ditched at the show. Using a rounded shadow brush, shadow was stamped onto the outer corner of the models’s lids. Paired with clean, luminous skin, the look was equal parts grungy and glamorous!
