This Designer Is Bringing Back An Iconic 2000s Fashion Trend

From chokers to bedazzled chainmail dresses, the 2000s was certainly a period of wild fashion. Whether or not you loved these trends, they are iconic. In fact, some are slowly making their way back to the current scene. Uggs, the quintessential ’00s shoe, is the latest comeback trend. The It-item was well-loved by booming stars in the likes of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and Lindsay Lohan, where it was commonly worn with Juicy Couture tracksuits. It was quite an awkward piece to wear, but the “ugliest shoe” has gone through many iterations as the label had to rebrand over the years. Today, Jeremy Scott–creative director of Moschino–gives the classic silhouette an upgrade with his own characteristic twist. In an 8-piece collection, two pieces particularly stood out–one being the Classic Short Crystal Flame, which is a chestnut boot embellished with vivid gradient flames that rings true to Moschino’s sensibilities. Meanwhile, the Classic Jewel Short features the staple in a bedazzled style (think colorful hand-sewn jewels, sequins, and beads on black sheepskin). It will be a special edition piece, as it reportedly takes a week to make.

“I was an undercover Ugg fan. They are so cozy and I love the way they look with pants and shorts,” the designer shared with WWD. “I loved classic tall boot because it’s so recognizable and very indicative of L.A. and Malibu. That was my first impression, of Kate Hudson and Britney Spears wearing them. There’s a sense of nostalgia for that era right now.”
