Inspired by his love for science fiction, Rag & Bone’s creative director, Marcus Wainwright, puts his own high fashion spin on Star Wars through a capsule collection. In an interview with GQ, Wainwright shares that he still remembers the first time he saw The Empire Strikes Back, which clearly left a lasting impression on him.
What makes the range different from all the Star Wars collaborations in the past is the presence of sophistication in the clothes. The collection does not rely on graphic iconography. Instead, it showcases Rag & Bone’s signature street aesthetic meshed with subtle references to the iconic film.
There are many details in the collection that are full of symbolisms – think visual metaphors depicting the light and dark sides of the Force, the clashing sectors of the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance, and the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order. The range includes Obi-Wan-inspired hoodies, Stormtrooper sweatshirts, merino wool turtlenecks, Ellis Force boots for women and the RB1 Force high-top sneakers for men.
