Since the launch of Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2007, the Kardashians seemed to have taken over the world. Just Kidding. However, one can’t deny the massive influence they have over the public. People have been obsessing over their personal lives, their style, their beauty secrets, and of course, their butts–specifically, how to achieve a derriere like theirs.
Here’s some good news: their longtime trainer Gunnar Peterson recently revealed what kind of workouts he makes the sisters do. First of all, he swears by the tried-and-true method of doing squats. He also shares doing different kinds of squats and using weights.
“You have to lift weights,” he said. “You have to overload the body in order for it to adapt to the stimulation. You can do body-weight squats all day long, but you’d be far better served to load up with some dumbbells, or a barbell, or a kettlebell, and then add some strong plyometric work to that”. He shares that pylometric workouts also help. For those who aren’t familiar with what they are, these workouts generally incorporate bursts of short, quick movements, like rounds of bicep dips or jumping jacks.
Squats and lunges are vital, Gunnar shares, adding that switching up your movements will greatly help. “You want to lunge to the side, you want to lunge twisting,” he said. “Those are all real-life movements that should be embraced at the gym, and I would do those all with weights”.
