Fast-fashion giants have been getting flak for being elements of mass-destruction, what with the millions of pieces they churn out every year. To make up for it, Swedish retail giant H&M have taken a few eco-friendly measures–they give 15% discounts if you donate your old clothes to them, they have been using organic cotton, Denimite (recycled denim), and lyocell (eucalyptus wood fiber).
But perhaps most amazingly, they recently came out with a gorgeous dress out of plastic. Yes, that’s right. The waste plastic you find awash on the shore. The chiffon-like material, called Bionic, is recycled polyester made from plastic shoreline waste.
